ABOUT

Hi, I'm Jessi Taylor, an Arizona-based Tattoo Artist and the creative behind Jay Tay Tattoo. I am also a mom, a wife, a world traveler, a plant lover, and an artist of various other mediums such as fiber art and photography.

I began tattooing in 2021 by apprenticing under tattooer, Zack Taylor (he also happens to be my husband!). I work with clients who are looking for a fully custom, cohesive, and balanced tattoo design. I specialize "illustrative" and "neo-traditional" tattooing styles but add my own spin to it with inspiration from historical art eras such as Folk, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco.

My tattoos are bold and colorful and I design with integrity and intention to make sure that your tattoo will stand the test of time. I always design with my clients' natural body shape in mind and give advice on size and placement to ensure the correct flow of the piece.

My husband and I own a private studio located in Queen Creek, AZ where we welcome all of our clients like family. Our studio is a clean and safe environment with lots of plants, good music, and a very chill vibe. We are both easy going friendly people and whether you want to talk about your last break up or aliens, or maybe the overall purpose of life, I'm always down for a good chat!

My Story

Prior to tattooing, I worked in fashion since 2007. I designed for bridal, denim, and swim/surf companies for about a decade and then decided to start my own swimwear brand back in 2015. I loved designing swimwear but I knew I wanted to transition out of fashion as it was becoming harder to find quality fabrics and

eco-conscious factories in 2020.

After watching my husband build his tattoo career and dedicating his life to the craft, I decided to take a leap and shift my career path at 37. Having an artistic background helped me translate some of the creative knowledge from fashion into tattooing, but there was still a huge learning curve! I continue to challenge myself every day with learning new techniques and skills. Part of my passion for tattooing and art is studying historical art and bringing that inspiration into what I design. I look at library archives from London and New York and am always finding new concepts, color ways, and design elements to incorporate into my flash and one-off designs.

Aside from tattooing and art, I love the outdoors and have a deep passion for nature conservation. I even have a tattoo dedicated to David Attenborough! I have a goal to explore the entire world in my lifetime and experience all of its beauty and different cultures. On top of all of that, I believe that family is everything.

"I first met Jessi a couple of years ago when I decided to get my first tattoo. I had been considering a tattoo for years, but was always hesitant about the idea of walking into a tattoo shop. When I reached out to Jessi with my first idea, she was able to create a piece of art that incorporated exactly what I had envisioned. When I arrived at her private studio to get the tattoo, I was nervous since I had no idea what it was going to feel like. However, Jessi was friendly, warm, and welcoming and my anxiety soon faded. We found the perfect placement for the tattoo and she explained exactly what I should expect throughout the entire process. Every time since my initial tattoo (I now have 8), she has treated me the same way. She regularly asks me how I'm doing throughout the process to make sure I[m feeling okay. Having tattoos herself, she knows which spots are going be more sensitive than others. Also, every tattoo she has created for me has been a work of art. Each time I can't wait to see the final product. I can't recommend Jessi enough, especially to anyone who may be anxious to start their tattoo journey."
